Exercise: Reviewing Your Resolutions

Remember back in January when a lot of us set some sort of goals for the new year? Whether you called them resolutions, promises, or by some other name, you know what I’m talking about. Those things we say we’re going to do (or not do!) as we attempt to make this THE BEST YEAR EVER!!!

Somehow, it’s now the end of June. That means we’re at the half-way point for 2011. How did that happen? This week’s “Summer of Me” exercise is about assessing those annual aspirations. The whole point of this series is to figure out where you are and where you’re going so this is a great place to start.

Here are some questions to think about:

  • What plans did you make at the beginning of the year?
  • Have you stuck to them?
  • Why or why not?
  • Is the goal still something you want to achieve?
  • How can you make sure you achieve it?
  • Is there anything else you’d like to commit to for the 2nd half of the year?

Maybe you’re not into resolutions – that’s fine and you can still play along. Most of us have some idea of things we want (or need) to accomplish. It’s possible that your plans don’t fit neatly into a January-December schedule and that’s okay too. The point of this exercise is to think of promises we’ve made ourselves or plans we’ve made and to figure out how we’re doing.

Give the questions above some thought. Share in the comments section below if you wish. And then come back on Friday when I’ll share a bit about what I found in examining my own objectives, as well as a revisit to the goals Girlyfight set when we relaunched in January.

Note: Exercises will typically be posted on Mondays but I was out of town this past weekend. This gives you all week to put your thoughts in order before the follow-up on Friday.
