Gratitude Week: Girlyfight Gratitudes
It’s taken me a long time but I am FINALLY starting to understand the power and scope of being thankful for all the things I’ve been given in my life. I’m even starting to appreciate the bad things that happen because it means I get the chance to learn and grow.
I’ve still got a long way to go in the gratitude department, and my first step towards that is to take a few moments to share with you all the things I am grateful for thanks to our Girlyfight project. Stacia and I have put a lot of ourselves into this website over the years and we’re still plugging away at making it a place where people can feel inspired and part of a growing community.
It’s easy to get caught up in the things we feel we haven’t accomplished and often forget to take a minute to breathe in all the progress. So, I’m taking a moment to savor my GF wins.
Brigitte’s Girlyfight Gratitudes:
- The mere existence of GF means that on a weekly basis I am writing. Even if I write not a word anywhere else, Girlyfight requires that I come up with ideas and write them down to share with others. It doesn’t matter if they aren’t read by ten people, the point is I’m writing and for that I’m thankful.
- I’m thankful for the few truly incredible people I’ve met and connected with because of this project. We’ve reached out and asked for guidance, help, assistance on a few things and the generosity and bravery of other women has been overwhelming.
- I am in awe of the fact that we keep pushing through with Girlyfight. Not in any omg, amazeballs that we commit to things kind of way, but that we had an idea, we ran with it, we listened to our hearts and our guts and we revamped an initial idea and that we keep at it until it will grow into what it’s supposed to be. It’s been very humbling and I need to embrace that more.
- I am thankful for all the things I have learned because of Girlyfight. All of the other cool projects and sites and ideas that I discovered through being a part of this project.
- Lastly, I am grateful for my partner-in-crime. Though Girlyfight isn’t the thing that brought us together initially, I am beyond thrilled to have someone like Stacia in my life. We push each other to be better people, and even though that can be really tough sometimes, it’s worth it. And I’m thankful to her for sticking around while we figure out our new creative lives.

A note from Stacia:
This week has been one of much thankfulness for me. Unfortunately, it’s also been one of not-much-sleep so I’m going to let Brigitte’s intro stand and proceed with my list.
Stacia’s Girlyfight Gratitudes:
- I have to start by expressing my gratitude for you, our community. You have been a constant reminder that there are wonderful, selfless people in the world who freely give of themselves through gestures both large and small, tangible and abstract. Whether it’s sending cards to strangers during Love Unlimited, volunteering your talents to help us with a post or a logo or a word of encouragement, or sharing your stories of how you’ve reached out to touch others, you’ve shown that there are kind individuals willing to make a difference using your unique abilities.
- The response to our shift to the creativity focus has been astounding. We’ve struggled with narrowing down what we wanted this site to be about. This time, Brigitte and I felt like we had finally hit a topic that just felt right. The positive reactions from other members of the community have been humbling and reassuring. Thank you to everyone who has expressed interest in the creativity focus.
- From a very personal place, I’m so grateful for the routine of writing weekly for this site. Because I’m always thinking about my next post, I’m constantly viewing the world with an eye for the creative. One of the best ideas I’ve heard (from multiple sources) over the past year or so is that we see what we’re looking for. If we want to see the world as a miserable place, we will find examples of that. I’ve been looking for imagination and creative problem-solving or kindness-injecting and I’ve been seeing an astounding number of these displays.
- Girlyfight has been responsible for strengthening of friendships and the creation of new relationships. I’ve met some great people through this community, people I cherish not just because of their support of the project but because they are just wonderful people. Existing relationships have taken on even greater meaning as we’ve connected over discussions about creativity and our dreams. A special shout-out to Brigitte as we are in very different places right now and yet there’s still so much common ground to explore. Our conversations and her support have been key to my determination to succeed.
- As I look at the things that have already happened, I can’t help but be grateful when thinking ahead. I believe Girlyfight has the potential to be something really amazing once we align all of the pieces we have been given to work with.
As we approach December, our focus behind the scenes is shifting to the future. We are working on some ideas that we think you will really enjoy. To make sure, we’ll be asking for your feedback and suggestions during the next month. We want to be sure that when we look back a year from now, we can say that we’re grateful to have helped create a community women can count on for ideas and support.
We’ve enjoyed Gratitude Week and hope it has helped you to think about the things in your life that you are grateful for as well. This is the first time since the new creativity focus that we’ve spent an entire week on one topic. We will do similar topics in the future so feel free to leave a comment below if you have a suggestion or request. We’d also love to hear about the things you’ve been thankful for this week!
