Prompt: Gratitude

Nov 21, 2011 by

Our weekly prompts are exercises in dreaming and doing. Some will feature specific questions, others will include just a word or phrase. Respond any way you like - whatever the prompt below inspires in you, go with it. Whether you respond with a written response (poetry, an essay, a bit of fiction) or a visual response (photo, paint, video, art), we’d love for you to share your responses with us by leaving a comment or link below.

This week's prompt:

Prompt: Gratitude

As artists, writers, photographers, and creators, we may occasionally find ourselves sans inspiration.

Call it what you will, but these mental blocks can be a real pain in the ass and sometimes it helps to be a little proactive about trying to get things flowing again vs. waiting for our Muse to get her shit together.

Acknowledging the people, things, and experiences that we are most thankful for is a great way to help get us back in the “zone.” So, take a few minutes to reflect on your life and the things that make you grateful. Write these things down, say them out loud, or even share them with a friend.

Doing this may put you in a better place and open your mind to receiving new ideas!

Give it a try and let us know how it worked for you in the comments below.

Well, I went ahead and made my post for tomorrow my prompt response, so be sure to check back tomorrow afternoon to read a bit more about some of the things I’m thankful for!

  2. I think I’m going to do the same thing for my post on Thursday.
