Prompt: One Impossible Thing
Our weekly prompts are exercises in dreaming and doing. Some will feature specific questions, others will include just a word or phrase. Respond any way you like - whatever the prompt below inspires in you, go with it. Whether you respond with a written response (poetry, an essay, a bit of fiction) or a visual response (photo, paint, video, art), we’d love for you to share your responses with us by leaving a comment or link below.
This week's prompt:
Sometimes we need to daydream about things that seem impossible in order to keep inspired. Maybe it isn’t really impossible at all – it’s really just about how we perceive our world.
Take at least 10 minutes out of your day to imagine impossible things. Imagine a moment or an experience or a thing or a place that seems so far-fetched it couldn’t possibly ever be real, and then imagine what it would feel like if it were real.
Feel free to share your impossible thing in the comments below or link to a post on your own blog. Also feel free to get really wild with your impossible thing – paint, draw, write a short story, or speak your idea outloud to a friend. Can’t write or draw? Maybe this might be a fun collaborative project with someone else. Make impossible things come to life with a little help from a friend!

I’m thinking it would be really amazing to walk into a bookstore and see my own book on the shelves. Professional and published, my photo on the back cover looking slender. And of course my hair would look amazing, but that goes without saying. (That might be the most impossible part of this scenario!)
Haha. I love your answer and that would definitely be on my top ten impossibles. Hmm… I guess I’d have to say living abroad someday. I would love to spend 6 months in London or Italy or somewhere that wasn’t Texas just so I could write and explore and see with different eyes. *Sigh*
