CiT Intro: Welcome to Creatives in Training Month
February is here and it has become something of a tradition at Girlyfight to transform a month that seems to center around a holiday that celebrates romantic love and nothing else. We think romantic love is just lovely, but we also think that other kinds of love are pretty darn spectacular, too. So, we’re gonna do something about it.
For those of you who have been with us from the beginning, you might recall last year’s Love Unlimited. It took place in February and focused on discussion and ideas centered around loving ourselves, others, and our community. At the time, Girlyfight’s mission was hellbent on saving the world, and while we still would love to save the world, our mission has shifted just a wee bit. It’s shifted to help us focus more on nurturing ourselves and our creative talents so that we’re in a better place in the future to really kick some greater good ass.
So this month, instead of love in the traditional sense, we’re going to focus on nurturing the creativity within ourselves, our friends, and our community. We’re going to put our Girlyfighting gloves on and get into the proverbial boxing ring and do some real work. On one side of the ring we find fear, doubt, and procrastination, and on the other side waiting impatiently are our dreams, potential and passions. Creatives in Training is our community coming together right in the middle of all the action to act as the referee between our fears and our goals. We are going to take this month to jump in the ring and fight for our passions.
The month will be broken down into themed weeks:
- Week 1 will focus on nurturing our creative selves.
- Week 2 will focus on nurturing creativity in others – be it friends, family, or acquaintances.
- Week 3 will focus on nurturing creativity for the greater creative community.
Each week will include an introduction, a special POW!, helpful tips and how-to ideas, and a fun activity. In addition to our posts, we’re so excited and pleased to have guest posts from some pretty amazing women to share with you all, too.
It’s going to be a really fun month, and we hope you’ll join us on this month-long journey into exploring ways to honor our creative spirits. We welcome feedback, ideas, comments, and your stories always, but especially during this project.
Get your gloves ready, ladies!

I’m looking forward to the next few weeks. I really hope people will join the conversation.
