A Decision

A Decision

It’s been just over two months since I put Girlyfight on a bit of a hiatus so I could feel out the future of the site. While the universe didn’t take out an ad on the billboard near my house to say “Hey, Stacia, here’s your answer!!!” here’s what HAS happened.

A lot of nothing. At least not Girlyfight-related.

I received a couple of emails or comments from people sorry to hear the site may come to an end. And by “a couple” I mean two. Nobody called with ideas for injecting more excitement or a commitment to be a new partner.

I’m feeling very torn. A lot of the signs point to closing down Girlyfight – participation never reached the levels I wanted to see and nobody seems to miss it. Like Brigitte, maybe I need to be focusing on my own creativity instead of trying to boost creativity in the community.

I considered a lot of options. Turning to more curation and less original content. Only using the message boards. Promoting like crazy. Adding link-ups.

Maybe some day I’ll do one or some or all of those things here.

But for now, it’s time to hang up the gloves. I need to let Girlyfight go and focus on my own projects. I need to stop thinking and start creating, which is actually what I’ve been doing the last couple of months and I’m finally picking up some momentum.

So Girlyfight may be back at some point. In the meantime, I’ll leave the site up because I believe in the value of the content here. But for now, I need to let go of this project so I can move on to others. Thank you all for the time and energy you’ve shared with Girlyfight. I’ll miss writing here and I’ll miss the interactions we had. I hope you’ll keep up with me one way or another. And maybe some day we’ll find ourselves back in the ring again.

    Stacia,

I’ve been busy or distracted for a few months and didn’t get back here until today. I am sad that you’ve decided to take a hiatus, but if it means you can engage your muse more regularly, then it is for the best. Perhaps at some point in the future, when both kids are in school, I can take a more active role in the process and the site, in whatever incarnation it may be reinvigorated. For now, I understand the need to scale back and reevaluate, to make some hard decisions about what you want to make your focus. I hope your current path will be fulfilling.

It’s really hard to make decision in life so we need to think a hundred times before we jump to conclusion rather than to be sorry.

Making decisions allows managers to respond to opportunities and threats by analyzing options. Managers then have the knowledge to make decisions about goals and courses of action. Some decisions are routine and may be automatic to the manager. Other decisions are made based on new circumstances that have no rules or procedures to guide the manager in the decision-making process.
