Who:
Girlyfight is for creative women – writers, painters, dancers, crafters, bakers, musicians, dreamers – who have been holding back because of fear, practicality or obligation. Girlyfighters not only want to embrace their own muse and accept its guidance but also wish to encourage others to do the same.
What:
Girlyfight is focused on nurturing our creative side by sharing tips, projects, exercises, encouragement, and feedback.
When:
We know life can get in the way but Girlyfight is here to let you know it’s never too late to create. There’s no time like the present to begin listening to ourselves.
Where:
It doesn’t really matter where you are – Girlyfight believes that any positive action is a change in the right direction, whether that change is on an internal or international level.
Why:
Founded by and created primarily for women, Girlyfight aims to inspire and empower individuals to explore their imagination and reconnect with their dreams in a meaningful way. We believe that honoring your dreams through small steps can lead to the kind of inspired living that makes big things possible.
How:
We will be posting inspiration, reviews, and exercises weekly. Anything that helps motivate us as we explore is fair game. We’ll also be sharing our thoughts and responses in the comments, as well as in our own weekly posts. If you see anything that tugs at your imagination or knocks a dream loose, we hope that you’ll be open to sharing it with us!
Goal:
Girlyfight’s goal is to establish a community with other women who have also spent too much time denying their muse. We want to help build a place where we can all encourage each other and grow together. Our dream is to be part of a vibrant group of women who support each other and have fun together. We also want to find ways to creatively make a difference and give back to our communities, even in some small way.
Why “Girlyfight”?
Anything Worth Having Is Worth Fighting For
That quote always comes to mind when we think about Girlyfight and why we’ve been working so hard to make this site possible. One thing we have noticed is that women seem to encounter more of an inner struggle when it comes to following their heart.
We convince ourselves that we can’t be creative or spontaneous. We don’t have time for that. Instead, we need to be practical and live up to the ideals and ideas others have for us. And how many times have we tried to break out of that mold only to be met with resistance and fear of that potential change?
From our own experiences, we know what it’s like to feel like we’re fighting against ourselves and others just for the chance to be heard. We searched for a place where we could connect with other women who shared our stories, but never found one that fit just right. So, we decided to build the foundation for a community of women who want a safe place to explore their dreams, build their courage and do big things with support versus judgment.
So, why Girlyfight? Because choosing to fight for a life filled with passion and creativity isn’t an easy battle to win. But it will be okay, because we’ll be doing the work together.
Mission:
Girlyfight aims to inspire, connect and support women who wish to overcome distractions and obstacles in order to explore and reconnect with their creative dreams in a meaningful way.
